Game Production Courses 2
CONCEPT WORKSHOP
The Concept Workshop course is designed to stimulate the creative and collaborative process. Each student pitches at least one original game concept in an environment that fosters constructive feedback. Green-lit projects are based on both feasibility and artistic factors. Approved proposals become final projects to be developed during Game Production II.
ENGLISH COMPOSITION
This course helps students refine their own writing processes while developing an in-depth personal and intellectual inquiry into a subject of their choosing. The course connects personal reflection with critical analysis, providing varied opportunities for strengthening writing and language skills. As the course unfolds, a series of assignments leads students through a continually deepening creative research process that develops into a complex and detailed written project.
GAME ART
In the Game Art course, students learn fundamental skills for creating and manipulating art assets using popular industry software as well as developing artistic technique. Characters, objects, environments, and user interface elements are among the assets students are responsible for creating across a variety of game genres.GAME AUDIO
The Game Audio course includes an introduction to sound theory, mood, traditional audio, sound equipment, mixing techniques, and recording. The creation and management of audio assets are emphasized as they relate to game production and the significant role of sound within a game.
GAME PROGRAMMING I
In the Game Programming course, students are introduced to computer programming from a game production perspective. Utilizing an industry-standard scripting language, students learn fundamental programming concepts while writing mini-games. Topics include types, variables, conditions, loops, data structures, functions, and objects.
GAME PROGRAMMING II
Building on the foundation of Game Programming I, this course focuses on object-oriented programming using an industry-standard scripting language. Students utilize modern software development methodology and tackle more advanced programming topics such as classes, inheritance, and polymorphism.
