COLLEGE MATHEMATICS
The College Mathematics course teaches students a wide spectrum of math concepts that are designed to build upon the math basics learned in high school and/or in earlier studies. Globally useful algebra and geometry skills are developed, and students experience new and pertinent content while exploring probability and statistics. In addition, problem solving is emphasized through the logic component of the course.COMMUNICATIONS
In this course, students will expand their structural control of language while gaining wide cultural knowledge. During the course, students are assigned research projects, analytical writing, and oral presentations, giving them the opportunity to develop writing, reading, listening, and speaking skills. These projects assist students in developing social awareness, historical perspective, scientific competence, moral understanding, and analytical and critical thinking. Ethnic and cultural diversity are explored as a way to further prepare students for participating in the global community.
CREATIVE WRITING
The Creative Writing course trains students to explore writing in a variety of genre forms. Building on the knowledge gained in English Composition, students in this course incorporate common literary devices and narrative structures into creative endeavors.DIGITAL CINEMATOGRAPHY
A production course that focuses on the video filmmaking techniques necessary for the creation of independent shorts. Students learn important concepts of film production, including how to operate cameras, direct, edit, record production sound, light, and fill all positions necessary for production.
DIRECTING
The Directing course focuses on the many responsibilities of the director and film crew to successfully take a project from script to screen. During lectures, students learn basic and advanced techniques of directing, including acting, directing actors, composition, the rehearsal process, script analysis, preproduction, casting, and theory. Students participate in workshops that emulate a working film production environment, as they become director and actor utilizing their scripts and talents.
